After the touching moment, Charlotte Ellis took to Facebook to tell the story of how herself and her boyfriend Taylor Waldon rescued a homeless man from the cold streets after he kindly offered his jacket and duvet when they had missed the last train home.

According to Closer, the couple were in London’s Covent Garden on 4 January when they drunkenly missed the last train home to their home in Essex. When they realised they were going to be waiting for four hours in minus degree temperatures, they began to panic.
However, not long after, a kind-hearted homeless man named Joey offered them his jacket and duvet and explained, ‘it’s a long wait and it’s freezing tonight.’

The couple then got a taxi home, but urged Joey to come with them, offering him a ‘good night’s kip and decent meal.’

‘He thought I was joking. I really wasn’t.‘ she wrote in her social media post. ‘It took Taylor to explain, ‘if you don’t come with us I’m not going to get her home’ and Joey finally accepted.’

The three then exchanged life stories and became ‘the best of friends.’

Charlotte revealed how she initially received backlash from her decision.

‘Because Joey was “homeless” people were quick to judge and even though I do understand why people panic, but why should it be that way?’

‘Why have we let it get this way? It doesn’t need to be this way? We are all the same, the same beginning and the same end. Just some people carry more paper than the next in between. Just because someone is “homeless” it doesn’t make them any less of a person than me or you.’

Charlotte then touchingly explained how her and good-hearted friends and family looked after Joey.

‘We have taken him for Indian, we have had his hair cut, we give him a phone, my friends give him a new wardrobe, they go play football, watch Django, the boys play playstation, he helps my mum feed the horses, he has a roast dinner!!! We treat him as we would treat anyone else. We have faith in him, we help him.’

It seems all the love and support from these wonderful people have paid off and Joey found a job of his own JUST five days later. Charlotte confirmed that he no longer on the streets.

The people’s champ has since been asking for clothes donations on Facebook to help those who are in need.

What a truly incredible story…
